J. Gatsby is the author of KILLING GATSBY, a graphic memoir and multimedia project that dismantles Hollywood mythology through personal history, satire, and visual storytelling. Gatsby is a filmmaker, writer, producer, and actor whose work spans film, theater, and transmedia storytelling. They trained for over twenty years with legendary acting teacher Sanford Meisner, developing a performance style rooted in emotional truth, precision, and psychological realism.

Their creative career began in New York City, where they worked extensively in Off-Broadway theater, both onstage and behind the scenes, while developing original material that blended dark humor, social critique, and lived experience. During this period, Gatsby also created The Sonic Masquerade, an experimental performance and storytelling project that fused sound, character, and narrative into immersive live experiences.

Gatsby went on to work for Larco Productions, spending over two decades as a writer, producer, and Head of Development. In that role, she shepherded film and television projects from concept through production, overseeing story development, talent collaboration, and creative strategy while working closely with Larry Cohen and financiers.

As a filmmaker, Gatsby’s work is known for its unflinching honesty, dark wit, and refusal to sanitize uncomfortable truths. Their films and screenplays often explore power, family systems, survival, and the collision between public myth and private reality. Gatsby has appeared in several major motion pictures, including appearing as Bruce Springsteen's bride in The Tunnel of Love music video.
